This seven hour update course focuses on recent changes to USPAP requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance by appraisers. The course emphasizes the application of USPAP in everyday practice which will help clarify commonly misunderstood aspects of USPAP. Appraisers in all areas of appraisal practice seeking updated competency in USPAP, including those subject to state licensing or certification and continuing education requirements imposed by professional organizations, client groups, or employers, will greatly benefit from the content presented in the course.

The Appraisal Institute's 2016-2017 7-Hour Equivalent USPAP Update Course is primarily focused on recent changes to USPAP for 2016-2017. The Appraisal Foundation has placed an emphasis on illustrating USPAP application in real-world examples. This course fulfills this requirement with practical examples, pre- and post-course diagnostic quizzes, problem-solving exercises, and multimedia case studies.
The course is all about changes to USPAP and Module 1 begins by addressing why and how USPAP gets changed to gain an understanding of where the changes originate. Exposure Drafts play an important role in the changes and provide the rationale behind the edits and modifications to USPAP. Module 2 addresses the actual changes for the 2016-2017 USPAP and that continues into the next module. Module 3 also includes an introduction to four new Advisory Opinions. Module 4 takes a practical look at Advisory Opinions and expands on the new Advisory Opinions presented in Module 3 with explanations, examples and application problems. Module 5 is all about applying USPAP to daily practice with a critical study of five areas of common USPAP problems and issues that often trouble appraisers.
