TOPIC: Claudia Gaglione will be covering the topic of the potential pitfalls during the course of an appraisal assignment including; defining the scope of work with the client before engaging in an assignment, how to retain records in your workfile, and how to best avoid errors and omissions claims while working in a fast-past appraisal environment. Claudia will lend her expertise from her experience at LIA Administrators and Insurance Services as National Claims Counsel. Claudia has supervised over 4000 claims and lawsuits filed against real estate appraisers across the Country.

SPEAKER: In October of 1982, Ms. Gaglione joined the law firm of Berman & Clark. In 1987, she became a partner with that firm, which later became known as Berman, Gaglione, Dolan & Tetreault. Ms. Gaglione left the firm in September of 1994 to form Gaglione & Dolan.
Ms. Gaglione received her Juris Doctorate in 1982 from the University of Southern California Law Center. As a law student at USC she participated in the Hale Moot Court honors program.

In 1979, she graduated summa cum laude from Saint John's University in New York with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

Claudia is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. She specializes in the areas of insurance coverage and claims management and administration. Claudia acts as national claims counsel for two nationwide professional liability programs. She provides claims handling services, performs file audits and assists in the drafting of insurance policies and applications. While acting as claims counsel, Claudia must select and monitor other defense counsel across the country. This experience has enabled Claudia to gain a unique perspective on what insurance carrier clients want and need from their counsel.
Claudia is a frequent speaker and author on the topics of loss prevention and claims avoidance.

The Appraisal Institute enforces attendance requirements mandated by state licensing and certification regulatory agencies. The Appraisal Institute issues certificates for state certification/licensing or state continuing education credit that verify successful completion and attendance of 100%, with your grade notification letter for courses, or at the conclusion of seminars. One hundred percent (100%) attendance is required for all Appraisal Institute education programs. This follows Appraiser Qualification Board minimum criteria requirements.

You must buy them ahead of time. If you arrive for a class without the required textbook credit for the class cannot be given and there will be no refund.

Some classes require you bring a laptop and or other equipment. Be sure to read the class description to determine if any equipment is required. You are responsible for bringing your own extension cord(s). None will be provided. Please safeguard your equipment and personal belongings at all times. The Appraisal Institute, the Southern California Chapter, the Instructor or the facility will not be responsible for any loss of your personal belongings.

Some classes are now available with downloadable materials. If you opted to download class materials instead of having them shipped to you, you will be required to bring the materials with you on a laptop or as a hard copy. If you do not have the materials with you credit for the class cannot be given and there will be no refund. Copies will not be available to you in the class. You are responsible for bringing your own extension cord(s). None will be provided.

For scannable exams, written notification of results will be sent to the examinee approximately 15 business days from the date of receipt of the exams at the national office.
