The recent wildfires, devastating to their specific areas, also created significant health concerns hundreds of miles beyond the burn area and reminded us how important air quality is to our health and well-being.

Air quality was in the unhealthy range for much of the Bay Area for several weeks and staying indoors did little to address the problem without specific high-performance air handling equipment. And while air quality may be the most recent issue we’ve faced, water quality is a looming problem particularly in some parts of the country.

What if our homes and buildings were designed to optimize the interior environment? What if being inside meant the air and water were within healthy levels, the lighting was set to encourage productivity and sleep patterns, and the noise levels – even in open office plans – was controlled? Enter the latest focus in high-performance homes and buildings: creating an interior environment that is physically and psychologically healthy, and one that maximizes productivity.

Workshop Materials and Hours
On-site check-in and distribution of workshop materials begins at 2:45p.m. on Thursday, January 17. NOTE: Early start time. The 2-hour chapter-developed workshop will run from 3:00p.m. - 5:00p.m. Our January Chapter Business Meeting and Installation Celebration will begin at 5:00p.m.

Education Credit Hours
Full (100%) attendance is required for education credit; partial credit is not available. Attendees who are arrive late or leave early will jeopardize receipt of CE credit.

Appraisal Institute: "Healthy is the NEW High-Performance for Homes and Buildings" is approved for 2-hours (10 points) of Appraisal Institute continuing education credit for Designated Members, Candidates for Designation and Practicing Affiliates. Full attendance (100%) required.

BREA Continuing: An application for 2-hours of BREA continuing education credit for licensed/certified appraisers seeking renewal credit is being submitted. Full attendance (100%) is required.

SBE: An application for 2-hours of SBE Training Credit is being submitted.
