  Description  

This one-day update course, copyrighted by The Appraisal Foundation, focuses on recent changes to USPAP requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance by appraisers. The course, which clarifies several commonly misunderstood aspects of USPAP, will aid participants in all areas of appraisal practice seeking updated competency in USPAP, including those subject to state licensing or certification and continuing education requirements imposed by professional organizations, client groups, or employers.

NOTE: Appraisers must successfully complete the 7-hour USPAP Update Course every two years to meet the USPAP continuing education requirement.

Participants can take the 15-hour USPAP course, but it will only count for hours toward his or her state's continuing education requirement; the 15-hour program will not meet the USPAP continuing education requirement.   

Course price does not include a copy of the current USPAP edition, which is required for course credit. Participants must bring their own copy of the USPAP edition to class.

We reserve the right to substitute instructors, change facilities, to cancel or modify this program if sufficient registrations are not received by February 15 or due to other circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation, tuition fees will be refunded. All other costs incurred are the registrant’s responsibility.

Course Hours
Onsite check-in will begin at 8:00a.m. on Friday, March 1. The course will run from 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.

Required Materials
In addition to the course handbook (which will be mailed to those registered a minimum of 10 days in advance of the offering and did not select the "download material only" option at the time of initial registration), all attendees must also bring their own copy of the CURRENT version of 2018-2019 USPAP to class. To purchase a copy from The Appraisal Foundation, go to this link: www.appraisalfoundation.org. Students who show up to the course without 2018-19 USPAP (either print or electronic) compromise receipt of attendance and continuing education credit.

Required Equipment
Bring paper and pen/pencil for taking notes. Calculators and laptops are not required (unless needed for accessing USPAP). Students opting to bring laptops are responsible for bringing their own extension cords/power strips. Note: Internet connections may not be available; therefore it is recommended that you save USPAP directly on your computer.

Education Credit Hours
Full (100%) attendance is required for education credit; partial credit not available.

Appraisal Institute: Full attendance enables Designated Members, Candidates and Affiliates to receive 35 continuing education points. 7-Hour National USPAP Update is just one of the requirements Appraisal Institute members need to meet the USPAP portion of their Appraisal Institute Standards requirement.

BREA Basic/Qualifying: 7-Hour National USPAP Update is not approved as a qualifying education (BE/QE) offering.

BREA Continuing: 7-Hour National USPAP Updates is approved for for 7-hours of continuing education credit (#17CP754601293) for licensed/certified appraisers seeking renewal credit. Full attendance (100%) is required.

Verification of Attendance Certificates
Verified certificates will be returned to you via email from the Appraisal Institute's National Office within 15-working days of the conclusion of the offering; watch for an email from "noreply@appraisalinstitute.org". The Chapter Office does not receive copies of your attendance verification for this course. Those in need of Express Verification should contact education@appraisalinstitute.org prior to the conclusion of this offering.
