At this seminar, City Planners and City Officials will discuss what’s new and changing in their community. Topics of discussion include

• Recent changes to zoning, as well as changes under consideration

• The need for more density in single family residential and multi-family housing, including tax incentives, low income housing, rent control, homelessness, transportation (i.e., the trolley), and redevelopment of any golf courses that have closed

• Changes to commercial zoning to enhance the tax base, including any impact from the legalization of marijuana, re-structuring of NAFTA, transportation, downtown military site redevelopment, and redevelopment of the waterfront and Midway areas

• How short-term vacation rentals are affecting their community plan

• What other things are happening in their city that affect property value

Lunch is included. The lunch speaker will discuss San Diego State University’s proposed redevelopment of the former Qualcomm Stadium site with the SDSU Mission Valley Campus.

Cancellation Policy
  • Up To 15 days prior to program start date, $35.00 cancellation fee.
  • 2 - 14 days prior to program start date, $105.00 cancellation fee.
  • Less than 2 days prior to program start date, forfeit of payment.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first served basis. If the event is filled, a waiting list will be retained. The San Diego Chapter reserves the rights to cancel, limit, or reschedule any event if the minimum enrollment level is not reached, and to change faculty assignments and facility locations at any time. Prospective students should confirm their registration with the Chapter office before making any non-refundable airline reservations. Transfers are not allowed.

The Appraisal Institute enforces attendance requirements mandated by state licensing and certification regulatory agencies. The Appraisal Institute issues certificates for state certification/licensing or state continuing education credit that verify successful completion and attendance of 100%, with your grade notification letter for courses, or at the conclusion of some seminars. One hundred percent (100%) attendance is required for all Appraisal Institute education programs. This follows Appraiser Qualification Board minimum criteria requirements.

There will not be any textbooks for purchase at the class. Students must purchase any required textbooks prior to the start date of the offering.

Some offerings require each student to bring a laptop and/or other equipment. Be sure to read the course or seminar description to determine if any equipment is required. Students are responsible for safeguarding their equipment and personal belongings at all times. The Appraisal Institute, the San Diego Chapter, the course or seminar Instructor, or the facility will not be responsible for any loss of students’ personal belongings.

Some offerings are now available with downloadable materials. If a student opted to download materials instead of having materials direct shipped, the student will be required to bring the materials to class on a laptop. All students must have their own set of the materials to receive any credit for the class. Extra copies of materials will not be available at the class.

It is the policy of the Appraisal Institute to provide reasonable accommodations for qualified persons with disabilities who are participating in Appraisal Institute educational programs. If any student needs accommodations to participate because of a disability, please notify the Chapter office in writing at least two weeks in advance of the program and reasonable accommodations will be arranged. Without two weeks’ notice, accommodation may not be available.

For scannable exams, written notification of results will be sent via email to the examinee approximately 15 business days from the date of receipt of the exams at the national office. Certificates of completion for continuing education, if the offering is an Appraisal Institute-developed seminar, will be distributed via email within 15 business days after completion of the seminar. Certificates of completion for Chapter-developed seminars will be distributed at the conclusion of the class. Express Grading for scannable exams is available. CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT: This seminar was developed and organized by the San Diego Chapter of the Appraisal Institute with the intent of addressing topic(s) of current local interest solely for educational and informational purposes. The Appraisal Institute national organization was not involved in developing or organizing the seminar. The seminar is approved for 35 points of Appraisal Institute continuing education credit, and for 7 hours of BREA continuing education credit (Approval No. 19CP754601358).

CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION will be e-mailed within five (5) business days after completion of the seminar.
