Enroll in Review Case Studies—General and come prepared for the challenge of applying the review process and other concepts covered in Review Theory—General. You will enhance your review skills by preparing two required review reports based on two case studies that present some of the issues reviewers face in review assignments. For each case study, you will develop opinions on the completeness, accuracy, adequacy, relevance, reasonableness, appropriateness, and credibility of another appraiser’s work and then communicate your opinions in a review report you design and draft yourself. By preparing written review reports based on the case studies, you will gain confidence in the application of review techniques. This course will be beneficial for appraisers and other real estate professionals who regularly work with appraisals and reviews.

Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
• Effectively develop and communicate opinions of completeness, accuracy, adequacy, relevance, reasonableness, appropriateness, credibility, and reasons for disagreement
• Evaluate appraisal errors to distinguish whether they are trivial or material from a review perspective
• Approach a review assignment and determine on your own what makes a review good
• Create an appropriate review format based on the context of the assignment

Review Case Studies—General builds on the concepts presented in Review Theory—General, a required course in the Appraisal Institute General Review Designation program (AI-GRS Appraisal Institute General Review Specialist). Beginning 4 weeks before the offering start date, program material will be shipped directly to the student. If this material has been shipped and you request a registration cancellation, you will automatically be charged a $25.00 fee and you may keep the material. Written cancellations can be emailed to We reserve the right to substitute instructors, change facilities or modify/cancel this program if sufficient registrations are not received by October 1 or due to other circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation, tuition fees will be refunded. All other costs incurred are the registrant’s responsibility.

A non-secured laptop computer with word processing and spreadsheet programs is required for this course. Program materials can be downloaded by the student or can be shipped directly to the student. If you choose to have the material shipped and do not receive your materials within 5 days before the offering start date, please call the sponsor to inform them.

Course Materials and Hours
Onsite check-in will begin at 8:00a.m. on Monday, November 4. The course will run from 8:30am – 5:00pm on November 4-7. On Friday, November 8, the one-hour review will begin at 8:30am immediately followed by the 2-hour exam. Participants registered two weeks prior to the offering will be sent their course handbook in advance (unless the download material “only” option is selected at time of registration or registered late).

Required Equipment
Laptops and a financial calculator are required. This course includes writing exercises so each participant will need his/her own laptop with word processing software (plus an extension cord/power strip). Note: Answers to problems in the course material will be shown using an HP-12C. Once enrolled, your confirmation email will include links to documents that must be downloaded prior to the course. A No. 2 pencil is also required for the exam.

Education Credit Hours and Attendance Verifications
Those who arrive late or leave early will jeopardize receipt of credit. Verified attendance certificates will be returned via email by our national office in Chicago within 15 working days of the course. Watch for an email from "". The Chapter Office cannot issue and does not receive copies of your attendance verification.

Appraisal Institute: Full attendance (100%) and successful completion of the course exam enables Designated Members and Practicing Affiliates to receive 375 AE CEC points; 275 points for “attendance” only (no exam). Partial credit is not available. Note: Those taking this course to meet designation requirements must have full attendance and successfully complete the course exam.

BREA Continuing: Review Case Studies - General has been approved by the BREA (#14CP754601115) for 30-hours of CEC. Licensed/certified appraisers seeking BREA CEC must meet the 100% attendance requirement; successful completion of the exam is not required for BREA CEC.

BREA Basic/Qualifying: Review Case Studies - General is not approved for BREA qualifying education (QE) credit.

State Board of Equalization (SBE) Training Credit: Those seeking SBE Training Credit should check with their respective training supervisor(s). This offering has not been pre-submitted for SBE approval.
