• Tour the Gaslamp Historic District in Downtown San Diego. Topics of discussion will include: the formation of the Victorian era commercial district; the blighted years; the formation of the National Register Historic District; Federal tax credits; rehabilitation of the buildings to include fire egress and modern amenities; and Horton Plaza’s previous redevelopment and current redevelopment plans.
• Discussion at the Marston House Museum & Gardens. Topics of discussion will include: the National Register of Historic Places; the Conditional Use Permit – residential to commercial; zoning tools; and the grandfathering clause.
• Tour through Banker’s Hill, Hillcrest, and the Mission Hill’s commercial areas. Topics of discussion will include how the commercial areas were developed around the streetcar system; and the commercial corridors serving residential development.
• Tour through Old Town. Topics of discussion will include the development of commercial areas, decline and residential infill; the blighted years; the formation of the State Historic Park and the Old Town Historic District; railroads, parking, and the automobile era; the Missing Teeth dilemma; and property values and rental rates.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first served basis. If the event is filled, a waiting list will be retained. The San Diego Chapter reserves the rights to cancel, limit, or reschedule any event if the minimum enrollment level is not reached, and to change faculty assignments and facility locations at any time. Prospective students should confirm their registration with the Chapter office before making any non-refundable airline reservations. Transfers are not allowed.
The Appraisal Institute enforces attendance requirements mandated by state licensing and certification regulatory agencies. The Appraisal Institute issues certificates for state certification/licensing or state continuing education credit that verify successful completion and attendance of 100%, with your grade notification letter for courses, or at the conclusion of some seminars. One hundred percent (100%) attendance is required for all Appraisal Institute education programs. This follows Appraiser Qualification Board minimum criteria requirements.

There will not be any textbooks for purchase at the class. Students must purchase any required textbooks prior to the start date of the offering.
Some offerings require each student to bring a laptop and/or other equipment. Be sure to read the course or seminar description to determine if any equipment is required. Students are responsible for safeguarding their equipment and personal belongings at all times. The Appraisal Institute, the San Diego Chapter, the course or seminar Instructor, or the facility will not be responsible for any loss of students’ personal belongings.
CLASS MATERIALS TO DOWNLOAD
Some offerings are now available with downloadable materials. If a student opted to download materials instead of having materials direct shipped, the student will be required to bring the materials to class on a laptop. All students must have their own set of the materials to receive any credit for the class. Extra copies of materials will not be available at the class.
It is the policy of the Appraisal Institute to provide reasonable accommodations for qualified persons with disabilities who are participating in Appraisal Institute educational programs. If any student needs accommodations to participate because of a disability, please notify the Chapter office in writing at least two weeks in advance of the program and reasonable accommodations will be arranged. Without two weeks’ notice, accommodation may not be available.
For scannable exams, written notification of results will be sent via email to the examinee approximately 15 business days from the date of receipt of the exams at the national office. Certificates of completion for continuing education, if the offering is an Appraisal Institute-developed seminar, will be distributed via email within 15 business days after completion of the seminar. Certificates of completion for Chapter-developed seminars will be distributed at the conclusion of the class. Express Grading for scannable exams is available. Program materials will be picked up at the site.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
: This seminar was developed and organized by the San Diego Chapter of the Appraisal Institute with the intent of addressing topics of current local interest solely for educational and informational purposes. The Appraisal Institute national organization was not involved in developing or organizing the program. Attendees are eligible to receive 15 points of Appraisal Institute continuing education credit. This seminar is also approved for three hours of BREA continuing education credit (Approval No. 19CP754601382).

will be e-mailed within three business days after the completion of the seminar.
CHAPTER LUNCH MEETING
: The San Diego Chapter of the Appraisal Institute will also hold its quarterly general Chapter meeting at Buster’s Beach House in Seaport Village on September 12, 2019, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Seminar attendees are welcome to attend the lunch meeting for an additional $25 (San Diego Chapter members) or $30 (non-San Diego Chapter members).
